About Us Sinuses Sinuplasty Q&A News Training

Sinuplasty® uses a thin balloon similar to an angioplasty balloon to open the sinus passages and provide easier breathing and in most cases, no more sinus headaches. As in heart vessels, the balloon is placed into position and inflated, then deflated and removed. This results in permanent widening of the critical areas leading into the sinuses while leaving the nose lining unharmed rather than destructing this lining as occurs in typical sinus surgery.

Sinuplasty® is used in patients with sinus headaches or pain and those who have perhaps been fearful of the nosebleeds and packs they have seen all too often with the standard sinus surgery.

This new outpatient procedure is as revolutionary for sinuses as arthroscopic surgery was for knees. The biggest advantages of Sinuplasty® are less bleeding and a shorter recovery time. Most people can return to work in twenty-four hours.
